The Netherlands Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian network. We help people in need, without discriminating based on nationality, race, religious beliefs, gender, class or political opinion. We see emergencies as a threatening lack of access to basic necessities of life. A disaster or emergency can be the immediate cause of this lack, but you can also face increasing challenges step by step. For example, losing your job and income, being unable to pay your rent, and eventually becoming homeless.
We help by making people resilient and preparing them for disasters, thus reducing their impact. And of course, we are there during the disaster or when the need is greatest. We prioritize helping those in the most vulnerable positions first.
From providing food aid in the Netherlands to ensuring safe toilets for women in refugee camps, from sheltering Ukrainian refugees to supplying clean drinking water in flooded Libya, we are there for people in need.
