In her research, Marlies Honingh is concerned with questions in the field of social democracy. More specifically, this concerns management, countervailing power, supervision, co-production and citizenship. Focused on education, she asks questions in her research such as: How can the quality of supervision, management and joint decision-making be improved? Or, how can parents, students and pupils play a meaningful role as co-producers in education?
Questions such as these highlight the significance that education has in the formation and socialisation of pupils to learn to act in our democratic constitutional state.
Together with Carolien van Ham and Wim van Meurs, she set up the research hotspot sustainable democracy.
